March 23, 2021- Department of Science and Technology Regional Office No. 02 (DOST RO2) spearheaded the DOST GAD Luzon Cluster “WEE Care, WE Share Forum”, highlighting Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) amidst the pandemic. This is done as part of the 2021 National Women’s Month Celebration via zoom.

Women Micro Entrepreneurs (WMEs) under the DOST-PCW WEE Project, as well as DOST SETUP-assisted MSMEs from different DOST Regional Offices in Luzon, shared their successes in maintaining their good market, sustaining their workforce and recalibrating their ways forward.

“Women can become actors in community resilience and in alleviating lives in their communities. You can come up with workable plans in your respective businesses that will help improve our economic stand” Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang- DOST 02 Regional Director, said, highlighting women’s significant role to communities and to the global economy.

He also added that their commendable service to help regardless of their profit during Community Quarantines inspires every Micro Small and Medium Enterprises who attended the forum.

“Our theme JUANA Laban sa Pandemya: Kaya! Protects and encapsulates the spirit and grit of our enduring fight for equality. Therefore, we must work in solidarity towards the closure of the gender gap that to date, no country has yet to achieve.” Executive Director of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) Atty. Kristine Yuzon-Chavez said in her call to government instrumentalities to act on gender issues for gender equality.

PCW also expressed their appreciation to the commendable initiative in highlighting women’s effort amidst the pandemic.

The forum was joined by Prof. Fortunato T. dela Peña – DOST Secretary, Dr. Diana L. Ignacio – DOST Assistant Sec. for HRMMSSC and other Regional Directors from Region CAR, 1, 3, 4A. 4B, 5.
