The Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) of Region 02 chaired by DOST Region 02 recently improved the GAD mainstreaming of the Department of Public Works and Highways by spearheading the conduct of GAD capacity development trainings for its permanent and alternate GAD focal persons on May 25-28, 2021 via zoom.
Serving as speakers were Dr. Jhamie Mateo , a member of the PCW Gender Resource Pool from the Isabela State University and Dr. Teresita A. Tabaog, member of the DOST-WIDE GAD Speakers Bureau of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
Lectures on Gender Analysis, GAD Planning and Budgeting, Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) and the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) were shared to 25 members of the DPWH GFPS through lectures and workshops.
Engr. Marietta Laluan, DPWH 02 Regional Director highly supported this initiative of its GAD Focal Person and the agency’s training team to ensure proper understanding of their GFPS members particularly in coming up with GAD plans and budgets and how to properly prepare attribution during the project design and project monitoring and evaluation to attain the required 5 percent GAD fund utilization or higher. Meanwhile, Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, DOST 02 Regional Director and RGADC Chairperson commits to continuously capacitate member-agencies of RGADC on GAD to increase the level of gender mainstreaming in Cagayan Valley .
