A total of Forty (40) assisted Women Micro-Entrepreneurs (WMEs) under the project of the Department of Science and Technology Region 02- Philippine Commission on Women (DOST-RO2-PCW) Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Project were trained on wise management of energy thru the webinar on Energy Audit on September 23-25, 2020.
During the three-day training, experts from DOST-Industrial and Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) explained the energy assessment which is essential in maximizing energy usage and efficiency, and the application of energy management principles and conservation measures in their businesses.
Furthermore, resource speakers also stressed that energy audit can minimize waste and ensure efficiency of equipment units; and recommended energy saving opportunities which can result to better operations practices for the basic equipment of a firm.
DOST-RO2 Regional Director Sancho A. Mabborang thanked the DOST-ITDI headed by Executive Director Annabelle V. Briones and related that this kind of training is highly relevant as it provides additional knowledge for WMEs to improve their management thru wise energy management.
“We should continuously give assistance to uplift the conditions of our Women Micro Entrepreneurs and MSMEs especially in this difficult time. WMEs should look deeply into all areas of business enterprise; not only in technologies, production aspects, marketing aspects but also into utilities such as Energy Audit to learn more on our consumption of energies on our business operations, how to we use effectively and efficiently.”, Regional Director Mabborang said in his message.
On the other hand, Dr. Teresita A. Tabaog, ARD-Technical Operation Services and Focal person of DOST-PCW WEE Project assured that more trainings will be sustained and conducted for WMEs and MSMEs to improve their business firms and increase their competency particularly amidst the pandemic.
Meanwhile, this virtual training on Energy Audit complements the technical training on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Technology conducted last January 21-23, 2020 in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan.
