Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. The Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) of Region 02 recently endorsed a resolution supporting the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) program of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) in Cagayan Valley. The support will come in the form of patronizing processed food products of local women-led processors currently being assisted by DOST, DTI and DA. Other support will be in the form of appropriate technical assistance that can be provided by the other member-agencies of RGADC-2.
RGADC-2 is one of the committees of the Regional Development Council (RDC) being chaired by Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, Regional Director of DOST Region 02. It is tasked to lead the gender and development mainstreaming in the region.
Dr. Teresita A. Tabaog, Vice -Chairperson of the DOST-02 GAD Focal Point System, Focal Person of the DOST-PCW WEE Project and presider of the 5th Regular Business Meeting of RGADC-2 at the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NSU) emphasized the role of RGADC-2 in initiating women empowerment while keeping track of compliance of all line agencies, state universities and the local government in GAD mainstreaming and the regular submission of PCW endorsed and reviewed documents on GAD Plan and Budget as well as GAD Annual Reports.
Also highlighting the RGADC-2 Quarter 1 meeting where reports on the status of VAWC cases being monitored by the Philippine National Police and GAD implementation of POPCOM through its KATROPA program.
NEDA as the RGADC-2 secretariat also introduced the committee’s search for the RGADC-2 logo as well as draft of the committee’s GAD recognition platform.
Mr. Kim Harold Peji , PCW representative presented a concept paper for the conducts of a 3-day Strategic Planning and Workshop on May 20-22, 2020 for RGADC-2 to be sponsored by PCW to provide a roadmap of RGADC-2’s operations in the next six years.
The activity was successfully conducted through the active support of the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) led by its President, Dr. Andres Z. Taguiam.
