Now on its fourth year in the Philippines, agencies like the Department of Science and Technology( DOST) Region 02 participated in strengthening the Anti-VAW advocacy to raise awareness among all stakeholders during the Kick off ceremony of the 18- day campaign to end Violence Against Women (VAW) ON November 25,2019 held at the Department of Social Welfare and Development(DSWD) Region 02 multipurpose gymnasium.

DOST Regional Director and Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) Chairperson, Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang emphasized the importance of the campaign in eradicating violence against women in the region.

Atty. Roderick Iquin, Education supervisor of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), highlighted RA 9262 the Anti-violence against women and their children act of 2004 and he also presented VAW cases in the Region.

Meanwhile, DSWD Region 02 Director Fernando R. De Villa Jr. welcomed partner agencies in the campaign against VAW.

The said event aims to;
1. Give the public a glimpse of a VAW victim-survivor’s ordeal to later develop in them the virtue of compassion or malasakit;

2. Promote awareness on the forms of violence women and girls experience, provide information on the laws protecting women and girls, and feature VAW-related services that people can access and avail; and

3. Gather public support for the Campaign.
